VALE MARTIN ERDMAN
Today we celebrated the life of a beloved member of the Australian music industry. MARTIN ERDMAN passed away this week at the age of 77. Highlights of his illustrious career included recording the original version of Peter Allen’s I Still Call Australia Home and earning a Grammy nomination for his production of The Lord’s Prayer by Sister Janet Mead. “I first met Martin in 1976 at Festival Records when he produced the first two professional sessions I ever played on, for Reg Lindsay and Diana Trask (you can read that story in full here). He was incredibly kind to guide me as a teenager through what turned out to be an important phase of my musical career. Years later I was delighted to reconnect with him via his showbiz lunches that he organised with his wife Sandra, which benefited Support Act Limited. It was a privilege for me to contribute tracks to two albums on his own Du Monde Records label; Australia My Country in 2010 and The Australian Spirit in 2011.” |
